This is a modal composition, and it is one of the earliest creations of Miles Davis to utilize this song form. The A sections revolve around G Dorian and the B section takes place in A Aeolian. The bass often pedals on 2 & 4 for the bridge throughout performances, and the three part harmony between the horns which can be heard on the original recording from Milestones during the head is often included in performances.
