This  is a modal composition, and it is one of the earliest creations of Miles Davis to utilize this song form. The A sections revolve around G Dorian and the B section takes place in A Aeolian. The bass often pedals on 2 & 4 for the bridge throughout performances, and the three part harmony between the horns which can be heard on the original recording  from Milestones during the head is often included in performances.

This song has been recorded over 150 times to date. It was first introduced on the 1958 album Milestones, and Miles Davis would also record it on multiple occasions throughout his career. It is featured on Miles Davis In EuropeMiles Davis In Europe, and Miles In Berlin. It continues to be performed and recorded to this day and remains as one of the most popular modal compositions in the repertoire.
