Harmony/Overview:
The harmony of this composition is not functional. Both the A and B sections are modal, revolving around the Dorian mode entirely. The B section is an exact transposition of A, only down a whole-step. The bassline that can be heard on the original recording during the first two sections is often used in performances. The final C section is also not conventional, using exclusively Maj7#11 chords that move in parallel motion.

This song has been recorded over 50 times to date. Joe Henderson first recorded it on his 1969 album Power to the People, and would also feature on his 1977 album Black Narcissus, as well as him 1997 album Big Band. It continues to be performed and recorded frequently to this day and remains as one of Joe Henderson's most popular compositions.
